Bass Fishing Team cleans waste from river

This Saturday, the ECU Bass Fishing Team held its 1st Annual Tar River Cleanup. The team launched their boats out of the Town Commons Boat Ramp in downtown Greenville around 11 a.m. The team collected trash that was lying on the riverbanks or floating in the water. During the four hours on the river, the team picked up just shy of 200 pounds of trash. The trash included glass bottles, plastic, Styrofoam and even a couple surprises such as a cooler and a watering hose. The team would like to thank the companies and individuals who provided donations to the team. The 1st Annual Tar River Cleanup was a great success for the ECU Bass Fishing Team and they are looking forward to next year’s cleanup that is scheduled for March 20, 2011. The ECU Bass Team kicks off their season on April 10 and April 11 in Montgomery, Ala., on the Alabama River.

ECU Bass Team Tar River Cleanup

2/10/10 - The East Carolina University Bass Fishing team presents it’s first annual Tar River Cleanup. The day will begin at 11 am, as members congregate at the Town Common’s boat ramp and prepare for their departure. The plan is to cover as much water as possible until 3:30 p.m. At 4:00 p.m. everyone will gather back at Town Commons and have a “weigh in.” Just like bass fishing tournaments work, the team will weigh the garbage gathered and conclude a total weight.
